Pondicherry Bar Association is committed to a more integrated lawyer community. The Association has been established in the year of 1992 with a view to facilitate greater interaction and understanding amongst legal fraternity of Pondicherry the window of French Culture.

We are unique as we practice law (French Law and Customary Law) which cannot be found in text books or law books in any other part of India. We have five languages officially-English, French, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam and also we have brothers across three states of the Indian Union-Pondicherry and Karaikal enclosed in Tamil Nadu, Mahe, enclosed in Kerala and Yanam, enclosed in Andhra Pradesh.

The Pondicherry Bar Association has played a pivotal role in contributing effectively to the development of the legal system in the country and has worked for the betterment of the society at large.

Pondicherry Bar Association aspires to strengthen the relationship between the Bar and the Bench, in turn building an environment conducive to effective administration of justice and maintenance of rule of law.

The Association upholds the honour, dignity and independence of the Bar and the Bench and to attain these objectives, the Association works in close coordination with non-governmental organizations, government and statutory bodies and international organizations.
